Fun Land and Ella's Arm

The last night that we were in Virginia all the younger cousins went to Fun Land. It's a little fun park for kids with an arcade, mini roller coaster, and indoor playground. Kate had a blast. She was excited to try all the new things. She was running around like crazy. Ella, naturally, was a little more slow going but found a couple areas she loved.

Unfortunately, right before we were getting ready to leave Ella fell getting out of the bouncy area. She landed weird on her arm. Scott and I thought that she might be overtired and figured we would wait it out a little bit. As the night went on her pain didn't get any better so we decided to take her to the ER. After a fairly short wait we found out she had broken her humerus bone straight through right above the elbow and the bone was displaced. The doctor told us not to be surprised if she needed surgery and said we should see an orthopedist the next day. Ella was a trouper though. We were blown away by how brave she was through the whole thing. She must have been in so much pain.
After spending half the night in the hospital we woke up in the morning and made the six hour drive back to Charlotte so we could see the doctors in after hours that night. The doctor told us she would need surgery to place pins in her elbow and set us up to see the pediatric surgeon the following morning.
Ella ended up having surgery first thing in the morning New Years Eve. She was such a brave girl. She got a pink cast that she absolutely loves.
